As president and owner of Vicki S. Adelson Consulting Inc., a Clearwater-based consulting firm which she founded in 1990, Vicki S. Adelson writes grants, develops strategic planning documents, evaluates programs, conducts studies of various social conditions, and produces reports relating to health and social service issues. Ms Adelson is a veteran grant writer with years of successful experience researching, organizing, and writing grants. She has had contracts with Walter R. McDonald & Associates and ICF International for site visitation, data collection, and report-writing reference to those organizations’ contracts with DHHS to evaluate children’s mental health “system of care” projects. Additionally, as a member of OJJDP’s National Training and Technical Assistance Center consultant pool for the past ten years, she has reviewed numerous juvenile and criminal justice grant applications and provided consultation services reference to reducing school truancy in the City of Boston and Hillsborough County, Florida. Ms Adelson has written numerous reports on human service issues for many clients, including the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County. From 2003 until June 2011, she was an administrator with the Hillsborough County Department of Family & Aging Services, where she was responsible for developing community partnerships, writing grants, and leveraging department resources. Ms Adelson wrote numerous grants during those years that brought millions of dollars into Hillsborough County. Since retiring from County government, she has written several federal proposals that were funded including a $2 million grant that provided treatment for women addicted to opioids in Pinellas County and a $5 million system of care grant for transition age youth in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties.
